Watercolor is a strange medium. Often acting on its own against my wishes. I started this Popup Linkpainting and the watercolor started doing what it wanted and not what I wanted. So I stopped and stuck it on the computer and started to play with it digitally. This digital manipulation is fascinating more and more.
and a little story to go with the art.

THE SHORN moon trembling indistinct on her path,
Frail as a scar upon the pale blue sky,
Draws towards the downward slope: some sorrow hath
Worn her down to the quick, so she faintly fares
Along her foot-searched way without knowing why
She creeps persistent down the sky’s long stairs

  • She is beautiful. I think she has a bit of lonely but she looks content maybe blissful? Like breathing in a breath of crisp, quiet, night air.

  • Beautiful. I like the purple and blue ones better, though. I don't get lonliness though, I get tranquility, peacefulness.

I must admit I had the old Peublo myths of Mother moon in mind when I did this. P'ah-hlee-oh, the moon maiden and T'hoor-id-deh, the Sun, were the Father-all and the Mother-all. From them began the world and all that is in it. The myth goes on to tell how the mother moon sacrificed one of her eyes to save the eye of her husband sun so that we could have night. So I wanted to portray the moon not only in a feminine form but also in the loving glow of her husband the sun. That is one reason the sky is blue not black and the reason of a complete profile with only one eye showing.

  • Enjoyed all three, the contrasts are excellent in all three, even the orange on orange. I like the simplicity, is that the right word, of one line bisecting the inner serene, content feelings and the outer environment. The dark blue is my favorite. Also enjoyed the Peublo myth and explanation of your artistic thought processes.
